Add Information:

The aim of the festival is to support and encourage the social and cultural development of the local community by means of providing a platform for local and visiting musicians and entertainers of all ages, abilities and musical styles.

The festival started life as a dream shared by local musicians, "lets set our gear up on Mesnes Park this summer and do an open air gig" we kept saying, musicians we were, organisers we were not! It took a special person to come along that had the drive and know how to make this a reality. Chris Haynes was that person! Lead singer in the popular local band "Blue Suits Big Boots" together with the help of the band and local volunteers the festival was born! Our first was in the summer of 1989 and as they say "The rest is history"

Over the years Chris and the team tried to improve the festival trying new ideas and suggestions from the public. Leading up to the year 2000 due to commitments Chris had to step back and the organising duties fell to another local musician Ray Young. We can all say that Ray has done a brilliant job and if it weren't for Chris and Ray there wouldn't be a festival.
