Award-Winning Jazz Vocalist Jaclyn Guillou chooses the PAL Studio Theatre at The Performing Arts Lodge to showcase new album

“This project has been a huge part of my life for the last two years, and I’ve been blessed to have the commitment and support of so many wonderful people throughout the entire process,” Guillou says. “It’s very exciting to work with PAL to celebrate the release of our CD; it’s both a great venue for jazz, and it’s completely in keeping with my values of artists supporting each other.”

The PAL Studio Theatre is located on the roof of the Performing Art Lodge, a social housing complex that provides affordable accommodation, in a creative environment, to older or disabled members of the performing arts community. Proceeds from the theatre help fund the rental assistance program that allows PAL residents to stay in Vancouver, and remain actively involved with their craft and their community.

“None of us can do this alone,” says Guillou. “As much as our beautiful surroundings define us, especially here on the West Coast, so does our willingness to reach out and help each other.

“Winter for Beginners is really about exploring the role of nature, the four seasons and how people respond and react to each other in their surroundings, “ she says. “That’s why celebrating the release at PAL is so fitting: people will have the opportunity to hear world class musicians such as Brad Turner and Peggy Lee who joined me on the album, in a beautiful venue dedicated to supporting artists, and surrounded by gardens and mountains.”

Tickets for the concert are limited to 100 seats, and are available at northerntickets.com.
