Add Information:

Platonic Curry - a London based 6 piece jazz-funk outfit aiming to present music that's both fresh and interesting enough for jazz fans and accessible enough for those who haven't heard a lot of jazz before to understand and get into without having to first acquire the taste.

The music is influenced from a number of different styles. Jazz and jazz-funk being at the core, with elements of swing, samba, bossa nova, hip-hop, drum'n'bass and Irish traditional music making their presence known.

The band was formed in 2011 by Saxophonist and Composer Ben Donnelly, who after cutting his teeth writing and playing for a number of London Big Bands, decided to bring his jazz experience, combining it with influences from the wide ranging styles of music that excited him while growing up, into the world of song-writing.

Featuring classically trained vocalist Penelope homer, in front of a vibrant rhythm section of talented jazz musicians, Platonic Curry began performing in established Live music venues around London, from Camden to Croydon, Soho and Shepherds Bush before recording their debut album - "Don't Buy The Sun" - to be released in November 2014 by Shelled On Records.
